The morning of November 4th at 11:00 a.m. VelociCoaster did not open at the time it was supposed to in Universal Studios Orlando. Team Members were blocking access to the attraction and the bridge was closed off this morning. Guest were waiting in a crowd to ride the coaster. Also, the nearby Discovery Center was closed. We don’t know what the reason for that is. Pictures flooded in showing empty ride vehicles were cycling across the coaster track. Though the attraction has been closed for various reasons before, we had never seen the bridge and Discovery Center closed because of it.
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster opened on June 10th, 2021. It’s based off of Universal’s popular Jurassic World franchise and is deemed Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster. The coaster features speed up to 70 miles per hour, 12 seconds of weightlessness and an 80-degree drop. The thrill starts even before that as guests will be “confronted” by velociraptors from the “Jurassic World” films from the moment they enter the attraction. “ Guests will be able to peer into the raptor paddock while venturing through the queue- and watch the hunt they are about to embark on unfold before their very eyes,” the resort said in a press release. Riders will also see depictions of the original cast of the film, including Chris Pratt reprising his role as Owen Grady.
