Two months into 2023 and we've officially hit the reset button.
The music industry's top artists were recognized at the Annual Grammy Award Ceremony on February 5th of this year, several awards of which were considered controversial. That is besides the point, however. Now we await the remainder of the year with bated breath. Which artists will release new music? What album will rise to popularity and which will fall flat on its face? A preview of what to expect from musicians starting with February of 2023 is just ahead.
Colony House - "Cannonballers"
February 2nd, 2023
The month of love and what's not to love about the music releases in February? The band Colony House has already set forth their album "Cannonballers" on the 2nd and it has received mixed reviews, mostly on the positive side. As always, take a listen and find out for yourself.
The Academic - "Sitting Pretty"
February 10th, 2023
Next up is a band by the name of The Academic has dropped their newest album "Sitting Pretty" on February 10th which has to be my favorite of the year so far (yes it's only February blah blah blah.) A beautiful mixture of the the indie rock/British pop rock sound that some compare to bands such as Circa Waves and other bands with that surf rock type of sound. "Sitting Pretty" has a track for every mood and it's absolutely worth the listen.
Paramore - "This Is WHy"
February 10th, 2023
An artist with more recognition than the previous two is Paramore with their release of "This Is Why" titled after the lead single released two months prior. Paramore had not released an album since the summer of 2017, so long awaited is an understatement when it comes to the creators of "Still Into You" and "Misery Business." We've absolutely been playing this and so should you.
Inhaler - "Cuts and Bruises"
February 17th, 2023
A band formed in 2012 released several singles prior to their debut album "It Won't Always Be Like This" in 2021 which garnered much commercial success. Now, the group Inhaler looks to follow that success with their second album "Cuts and Bruises" slated for release on the 17th. The Irish rock group has notable songs such as "Cheer Up Baby" and "These Are The Days." Certainly an album to keep an eye on in the coming days.
Gorillaz - "Cracker Island"
February 24th, 2023
Rounding out February is a band that has a planned release but isn't quite there yet, which is the legendary Gorillaz. "Cracker Island" is slated to drop on the 24th of this month. The fictional e-group gave the public four singles in 2022 that are likely to be apart of this album including "New Gold," "Cracker Island," "Skinny Ape," and "Baby Queen." It's safe to say this album will feature several more hits with several famous contributors, as is expected from the band that has made a great habit of doing so.
