The Strokes, Circa Waves, and more headed to 89.1
Whether released in 2025 or in the same year the OLED camera was invented, we've got music you may have never heard headed to our playlist.
Let's start from the turn of the century with legendary new wave rock band The Strokes and a track from their 2003 album Room On Fire.
You Talk Way Too Much - The Strokes
"You Talk Way Too Much" is the fifth track off of the band's Room On Fire album from 2003. Most agree that the song details a breakup in which one partner is pleading "Give me some time, I just need a little time" and the other is accepting that the end of the relationship has already arrived "You talk way too much, it's only the end".

The song is said by many as one that could have appeared on the band's debut album Is This It, a commonly held viewpoint not just for YTWTM, but for the album as a whole.
I happen to prefer Room On Fire to the debut, but the album is hit or miss for some.
You can listen to the track below on Spotify.
The next release is from a band heavily inspired by The Strokes, Circa Waves.
Like You Did Before - Circa Waves
Released as a single from their newest album, "Like You Did Before" is, in lead singer Kieran Shudall's own words, a reminder:
[It’s] a reminder of a moment in my life that many people don’t know about. Just before my heart operation lying in hospital when life felt uncertain and fragile, I would imagine myself in a packed sweaty indie club, dancing like my life depended on it. It was a daydream, a form of escape and this song fits perfectly into that vision. - per an interview with NME magazine.

The indie rock band has been making music since 2013 and continues to draw comparisons to that of the bands like The Vaccines, Arctic Monkeys, and The Strokes as mentioned before.
The group's latest album Death & Love Pt.1. was released on January 31st of this year and is available everywhere you listen and the Spotify link below. I have yet to listen to the entire album, but I did enjoy the three singles made available prior to the full release.
Another recent addition to our library is a new song from Stranger Things star Joe Keery, known in the music world as the artist Djo.
DJo - Basic Being Basic
Joe (Djo) Keery has been in the indie rock scene since 2019 with his release "Roddy" in mid-July of that year. He has curated a respectable discography in the years following his debut, not to mention simultaneously maintaining an acting career.
Keery's 2022 album Decide featured popular track "End of Beginning", which has garnered over 1.3 billion streams on Spotify. The song was also an integral piece to the score of HBO's recurring sports documentary "NFL's Hard Knocks" which featured the Chicago Bears in its latest season.

Now, Djo has released "Basic Being Basic" a song in which he states:
"It’s kind of a shot fired to anyone who’s trying to be of the moment." - Joe Keery with NME Magazine
The track touches on "superficiality and materialistic expectations of others while also expressing a yearning for more authentic and deep, meaningful connections" according to a contributor at Genius.
The track is very topical and super catchy, to say the least. It gives me similar vibes to The Dare, another artist that has developed a strong base in recent years.
The full album, The Crux, releases on April 4th and is available to pre-save here.
