Punk Rock Resurgence: Top Seven On The 89.1 Music Charts

*As of Monday, January 13th, 2025

Punk Rock Is Trending Up

There is a lot of carryover from 2024, as we are only about halfway through the first month of the new year. Interestingly enough, we have seen a strong resurgence of punk rock bands from the early to mid 2000s. Bands like Green Day, Sum 41, Linkin Park, and others have consistently topped the charts in the last few months.

One might argue the genre never left, but regardless 2024 was a strong year for punk rock. Here's where we stand near the middle of January 2025:

While Green Day tops the chart with Bobby Sox, a track off the group's latest album Saviors, it is a pretty diverse top seven.

Diverse Alternative

Almost Monday has consistently charted with their track Can't Slow Down from their late September album DIVE of 2024. Myles Smith's Stargazing continues to be a perennial listen, and Linkin Park charts with The Emptiness Machine, released as a single (later added to their album From Zero) in early September of last year headlined by new lead vocalist Emily Armstrong.

Rounding out the charts are Beabadoobee, Badflower, and a collaborative effort of Justice and Tame Impala, with their tracks Beaches, Detroit, and Neverender, respectively.

All of these tracks can be heard on our station and through our Listen Live feature on our website, as well as our mobile app and the Spotify links above.

Thanks for listening and stay tuned, as we will continually update this list as needed!
